“As a professional MTB instructor, I was excited to receive the Mainline helmet because of Smith’s reputation for quality, well thought out products.
However, I was disappointed to find I’m in between sizes. I had to swap out the supplied extra pads for the smaller ones in order for the medium helmet to fit, but it was still too tight. I have to take my helmet off a lot to talk to my students, and I’m finding I’m avoiding doing so just to save my ears.
I’m not a fan of the D ring closure system, as taking it off and on with gloves on is challenging. Last, I’m not a fan of a chin bar with a gaping hole in front of my mouth, with no grate or grill to keep rocks and debris from taking out my teeth from a rider that may be in front of me. There should be, at the very least, and optional protective insert for those that want more protection for their mouth. I’ve taken a rock to my goggles that left the lens severely scratched. If that same rock would have come through that hole in the front, I could have lost a couple of teeth.
Other than that, it’s a great design, but I wish it was a more comfortable helmet with the hours I need to wear it everyday.”
“I tried on many full face helmets and for me the Mainline was the most secure. I felt snug in the helmet and felt it would do exactly what it was designed to do, protect my head. The other big surprise for me was just how light it felt, didn't feel cumbersome at all.”

“I got this helmet and googles as a pair and not only do they look great together they are super integrated which is awesome. I wear it from anything Downhill to trail rides.”

“I really love the helmet it is very comfortable. I really appreciate that the helmet is lightweight as I ride to work everyday on my bike. I would just love there to be a vent over the mouth opening as bugs and debris get inside while you’re riding.”
