“1 year of use later.. The mainline is fantastic when it's either below 60f or you are getting lots of air circulation on a fast downhill. As soon as your not moving fast enough on a day upwards of 75f you can't get this helmet off fast enough. The rattling issue is not an issue if you wear a sweat wicking cap under, which also improves general comfort. As far as crash protection, I took a huge spill bashing my noggin into rocks, the bike, and ground and the helmet held up amazing. It protected my skull from being split open and my face from being pulverized.”
“This helmet is very well made. I have yet to need it’s protection yet, but it gives me the confidence to send it on the trails. It is light and airy enough to wear up and down hill. It works great with my Smith goggles. My only gripe about this helmet is the strap can be cumbersome at times.”

“I overjumped a decent jump at Bryce Bike Park. When I say overjumped I mean i cleared the entire downside. I bailed off my bike when I saw the knuckle behind me and I got spun around in the air and landed in the flat backwards and layed out. I'd say i fell about 20 feet vertically from my head to the ground and was out cold dreaming for about 30 seconds. I fractured 2 bones in my back and split open my elbow right down to the bone. I even got it all on Go Pro. The CT scans at the hospital looked great!! The doctors were not even worried about my head after they reviewed the scans. I'm a definitly a believer in Smith Helmets after that. The helmet did it's job for sure. It has a nice dent from the impact, I think my head landed on a small rock. I will be getting another Smith Mainline. I'll also be back to tackle the rest of Hooch, the jump line, but maybe this time ill do my homework and spot the bigger lip option off to the side that would have extended the gap and kicked me up higher to use all that speed I was carrying. Awesome line, I highly recomend checking out Bryce and you can even pick up Smith helmets and gear at their bikeshop.”

“Bought this to replace IXS Trigger FF that was falling apart, also bought the squad mtb goggles. Fantastic quality, fitment and function. Just had my worst head strike ever going face first into a pile of rocks after a sniper rock pinged my front tire going full tilt. My head, face and neck are 100% fine, minor scratches on the helmet. If I was wearing a half shell or my cheap non DH certified FF I would have been in bad shape. Super happy I bought this a day before I got wrecked.”
