“Love the look and fit of this helmet. Padding is really comfortable and even though I was worried about my ponytail getting caught in the MIPS retention system it was no problem with a lowish pony tail. I've had the helmet for a little over a month and am really happy with this purchase.”
“This is a good looking helmet. The construction is quite impresive, covering all the EPS, giving an excellent look and felling of secure. The mips liner is neat and tidy and over all the helmet looks and feel secure. I have been told by Smith that this helmet fits better oVal heads, but I have to say, that it did not fit mine at 100%. I would say it will fit heads in between round and oval or maybe a bit oval better. The helmet sits low on your forehead( at least in mine) what it adds to the safe feeling. Ventilation wise, I have tried on the 18/22 celsius range and you can feel some air flow going, but I am not sure how it would behave on climbs or low speeds.
I found that the straps does not stay in place, so basically, every time you put the helmet on, I had to adjust the straps again, and sometimes even during my commute( I have 26km both ways commute). The rubber to hold the straps at the end is so thin and minimalist that also moves and I ended up with the straps flapping.
The other issue i found is the retention system at the back. It works perfect, but when you adjust it, it gets into your skin, making it quite uncomfortable on a couple of spots at the back of your skull because of the lack of padding.
Sadly I have returned, because of the fitting and also my last point, but I really think it is a really good helmet and personally think that with a bit of padding at the retention system and perhaps changing the straps material it would be a 10 out of 10 helmet.”
