“I tried to replace the broken visor on my daughter’s Smith bike helmet and was instead told to seek warrantee coverage for her helmet. In order to access the warrantee I had to cut the straps of her existing helmet making it unusable and also contributing to waste. While I am grateful that it was covered and she again has a helmet + visor, I’m not sure how destroying a perfectly good helmet is in alignment with the following information on the Smith Optics website: ‘The mission of the Community Responsibility initiative is to provide a framework and driving force that enables SMITH to make consistent and measurable steps forward to reducing our environmental impact and helping promote the causes we value. ’ Please practice what you preach and find ways to reduce your environmental impact.”
