“So this is a review purely about prices and warranties. I have been a snow professional since 2005. Certified PSIA and AASI level 2 with experience at over five resorts from Tahoe to the Tetons. When I first started, I felt Oakley was the only true competitor when it came to the best optics. I've always chosen Smith instead because they're prices are more competitive with almost as good of optics as Oakley. My biggest problem with Smith and being part of the pro program is that their "lifetime" warranty is garbage. I've sent in three pairs of goggles over the course of the last 15 years. Every time I've tried to warranty something Smith has claimed that none of my problems are manufacture defect. One pair of goggles had delaminated face foam and they told me that if they could keep those frames then they would give me 50% off on a new pair of goggles. Well I already get a 50% discount so why would I let them keep my old frames when they're not offering me anything I can't already get? But now as their product is getting more expensive I'm wondering why I'm remaining loyal to Smith when I could buy from another manufacturer that actually stands by their warranty. Overall I have had good experiences with Smith. That's just my two cents on their warranty and pricing these days.”
