“These goggs are the shiz! Nothing comparable. Paired with my Maze helmet I never fogged up once! Even with my neck gator tucked under (for covid restrictions) I never had a trace of gogg fog! Visibility is immaculate and has a great field of regard. Super comfy, great fit with helmet. No gaper status here! Also got the Aleck built in headphones they offer, sounds great and super easy to use. Couldn’t be happier with my new setup. Thanks Smith!”

“It's only happened a few times in my life where I pulled a new piece of gear out of the box, threw it in my bag, got to the mountain or trail, and had a reaction like I did when I put these on. It was a snowy day at Mount Hood Meadows in Oregon. Typically questionable vis, snowing. A great day for laps with free refills. Putting these on with the low-light lens was literally like turning on the lights in a dark room. Clear as can be, well-defined contrasting features in the snow jumped up all around me, and the frames disappeared. I had to tell someone... Buy these. They are unbelievable. Great fit too (nice and snug across the bridge of my nose - which isn't always the case). Like I said, buy some. You won't regret it.”

“I just had my first ski outing with these 4D Mag goggles. The goggles I bought came with the Everyday Green Mirror and the Storm Rose Flash. I used these along with the new smith quantum helmet I bought at the same time through Altitude Sports here in Canada. I've only used the setup twice. Once this past week to do some fat-biking at night and it was about 28 degrees below 0, (celsius) due to a very cold polar vortex. I ride with a light at night, so I can see fine through a low light goggle lens and the storm rose flash was absolutely crystal clear with my night light shining the path in front of me. The big thing for me when it gets cold is keeping my lenses from fogging up, and the night I rode with these goggles on, if there was any fogging it would dissipate quickly once I got rolling again. The other goggles I previously used were fogging up bad and then the fog would freeze so I'd have to pull the goggles off my face. for the rest of the ride. (very cold) To be fair the other goggles I used were about 10 years old and nowhere near the quality (or price) of these 4D Mags.
I know most people won't use these for activities other than ski or snow boarding but I thought I'd mention they work pretty good for riding a bike in the winter when you really need to keep the cold off your face.
So today I used these at Nakiska which is about an hour West of Calgary. I started off with the green mirror lenses as it was fairly bright and sunny when we started off. It wasn't too cold, but cold enough that my boys goggles were fogging up a little. I had no fogging issues at all. To be fair though, I attribute some of that to being careful to wearing your face mask (COVID) in such a way that your exhalation breaths are not being routed upwards towards your goggles. I'm using a tube for a face mask. The lens clarity when it was sunny was excellent. I really can see a fair bit of detail on the ground below which helps navigate through crud, ice, and rocks etc. The birds-eye view feature is also really helpful for me as I'm often fussing with a backpack chest strap or a zipper etc.. I look down a lot and the extra field of view afforded by the design is excellent and appreciated. Towards the late afternoon, things started to get overcast and I noticed that I wasn't picking up as much detail in the snow so I changed over to the Storm Flash Rose, ( I think that's what it's called). I was able to take my outer gloves off but I still had fairly bulky liners on and within about a minute I had swapped lenses. The mag system worked pretty good, but to be honest, I had a little bit of trouble lining the lens up with the frame. Once the lens was lined up, clicking the locking tabs to lock the lens in place was fairly simple. The only thing I realized at the end of the day was that one side of the lens was not completely seated in the frame. Nonetheless, for the remainder of the day the lens never moved and I never knew that it was actually not seated perfectly. It's worth considering though that I changed these lenses at the top of the ski hill, with glove liners still on, and the goggles still on my face. So essentially I was doing it by feel. Had I done the lens swap with the goggles off my face in the warm up tent, I'm sure the lens would have seated the way it's been designed to. The outcome of the Storm Flash lens was that I could definitely pickup detail in the snow once again like earlier when it was sunny outside. I like the idea of being able to swap lenses when I need to and this is a great feature made even better by the fact that Smith supplies the user with the second lens. Overall, I've given this a 4 star review but I think it's closer to a 4.5 than a 4. My only issue is the little bit of misalignment when trying to swap in a different lens. Other than that, this goggle is perfect. There's a few key features to be had in a goggle and this one has them all in my opinion. Between the very comfortable fit, extra lens, birds eye view feature, resistance to fogging, magnetic attachment, and brilliant optics, this goggle, though at the high end of the pricing spectrum is well worth it. I've really come to like my gear made by Smith, and I highly recommend these 4D Mags.”
