Oris ProPilot 41mm 01 751 7761 3164-07 3 2003BRLC Reviews

This watch is very well made for the price and is my second Oris (I also have a green aquis). This brand punches so far above its weight for quality and finish. The bronze pro pilot is even better looking in the flesh, and mine is beginning to develop a lovely, unique patina.

I was directed to Starbuy by Oris customer service and dealt with Deepak directly over the phone and via text message. Deepak was very friendly and helpful organising prompt shipment of my piece which arrived at my residential address in suburban Sydney within 4 hrs. The Propilot Bronze is my second Oris piece after the propilot in blue. The Propilot watches are very comfortable to wear on my 18 cm wrist, sitting low enough to fit under shirt cuff and having nice smooth edges at all skin contact points. The dial is highly legible with the bronze variant having especially crisp applied arabics (compared to printed on my older blue model). The hour and minute hands are crisp and permit accurate reading to the minute at the edge of the dial. The black arm of the second hand blends into the black dial even in strong light so that the white lume tip seems to glide unsupported around the dial which whilst not very legible is interesting to look at. The lume on the hands and arabics of the bronze is better than the older blue model but still not very bright. No lume was applied to the indices which is a little disappointing. The crystal is slightly domed and does suffer some reflections but nowhere near as bad as other pieces from Hamilton, Tissot and Seiko. The bronze case is beautiful to look at and matches a surprising number of outfits from dress wear to casual. The turbine bezel is a subtle visual point of interest and gives a nice tactile texture for those who like to handle their timepieces. Having worn this piece for weeks continuously it is starting to show a reasonably even patina which is changing the character of the piece. I liked the bright metal out of the box, and am enjoying watching the patina develop. I&xm quite a fan of display case backs and the sapphire case back of this model displays the movement with distinctive red rotor well. The screw down crown feels sturdy with nice clicks to the date and time set positions. The ventile strap was very stiff out of the box but has become much softer through wear. It is leather lined in areas contacting the skin. The pattern in the nylon on the strap does scuff easily so beware of this. The clasp is secure and I prefer the strap adjustment of this piece to the mechanism used on the leather strap. I really like the Oris seatbelt style clasp though it does scratch easily. I am a big fan of bracelets on this style of watch and hope a bronze bracelet is eventually released as was done for the pointer date. All round a very wearable piece and I&xm very satisfied with the product and service.
