“I’m very pleased with this watch, on the surface austere and practical whilst elegant and versatile (with the right strap/bracelet). The sapphire crystal is a great inclusion that adds to this watch. An everyday wear or an evening type.
A little deeper now, the quartz movement is outstanding, it adds to the JetStar’s allure (such a smooth sweep of the dial). The hands blend with the dial but not disappear. And that accuracy, it makes it my go to time piece.
I would’ve preferred the Bulova logo at 1 and some lume on the indices, but that’s just nit-picking. I also replaced the tapering leather strap, I think it is better suited on a metal bracelet than a leather strap. Finally, water resistance is not the greatest but I take my watches off when near water, so no big deal.”
“Look, it&xs a nice watch although perhaps not quite suited to a large wrist like mine.
Movement 10/10. I&xve had it for a month and it has gained about /3rds of a second = 8 seconds a year. Can&xt complain about that. Most are my watches are mechanical so no contest. My best Quartz is probably about 0 seconds a year.
Band. No rating. I swapped it straight out for a DeModell Italian strap I had.
Case. 6/10. Nicely done but wears smaller than the 40mm suggests. Not for big wrists. I&xve got other so called 40mm watches that wear bigger. It&xs turtle style shape makes it look smaller.
Dial and hands /10. Nice starburst pattern, nothing special hands and the lume is terrible but I didn&xt buy it for the lume.
Other random observations Love the sweep second hand - a poor mans Grand Seiko! A bit sus on the quality of steel used as I managed to scratch the back case with my fingernail trying to remove the "made in China" sticker.”
