“I was looking forward to getting this watch, especially at the reduced price. Having a couple of other Citizen watches already had set my expectations regarding quality so it was it a bit disappointing to find a few things that have made this a less than the expected experience.
Pros - the watch looks good and is a nice size and weight.
Cons - here are my observations....
The most obvious thing is that the bezel is fixed as I had expected, but why put deeply grooved edging on the bezel which can feel somewhat sharp when there is nothing to turn? Shirt cuffs might suffer from rubbing against this unnecessary misstep of design.
The so-called &xcyclops&x magnifier over the date is a resurrection of an old idea, but one needs to be positioned well over the top of, and perpendicular to, the watch face to get the benefit of the enlargement, otherwise all you get is a distorted image. I would have thought that with such a large face that slightly larger date window and numerals would have been better, but I guess it’s a minor issue.
The rubber watch band feels quite substantial, but the rubber is very &xgrippy / sticky&x to the point that it can be difficult to push the end of the band into the retaining loop. It is also prone to easily picking up dust due to its &xstickiness&x.
Finally, being a Citizen, I would expect the sweep of the second hand to line up with the markings on the watch face but no, this is a fail, with the second hand noticeably off each mark. This is somewhat annoying lack of precision that might now still be regarded as meeting any quality control checks but most likely would have failed in the past.
So overall, a nice looking watch, good weight, and size, but does have a few, perhaps minor issues, that tend to let it down from being an excellent buy.”
