“Citizen have once again made a fantastic release with the Promaster Mini in the EcoDrive stable. When first released the Promaster was predominantly a larger men&xs style with a chunky face and quite heavy. The company have clearly seen that the rugged styling is appreciated by those hoping for a lighter and somewhat smaller version with the same functionality. I have had a Promaster Divers watch for around 15 years and worked in and around the water, having been a sailing instructor and Coxswain on larger vessels. I have changed the band for style purposes only with no functionality issues. It was natural, therefore to look to the Citizen Promaster for a special purchase. This new purchase was as a gift for my wife after she had once again had the battery go flat on of her other watches including an Adec and a Baby G. The ability of the Promaster and indeed the other EcoDrive watches to run without the need to change any batteries is outstanding. Reminiscent of military watches from the 60&xs, the rugged styling is stylish enough to wear out in the evening and sensible for every-day use.
With a clear face and range of colours, the mini sits well in the functionality department. The turning bezel feels solid and has a satisfying positivity to the location detents. The adjustment knob is well placed and aligns nicely with the date window on the face, a nice touch by the Citizen designers. It is simple to use with two easily felt positions whilst setting the time and the date. The lack of numbers adds to the clarity, as seasoned analogue wearers will attest, it is a glance that gives the time with less mental processing.
The price point is appealing with, and compares well with other rugged style watches from other manufacturers given the simple functioning and prolonged life of the watch into the future. Starbuy were able to accommodate my pickup and were equally pleased to send the watch. Watch out (no pun intended) for their daily specials and be ready to act as these are not available for long. When collecting, the sales team were pleasant and conversational and spent a generous amount of time with my wife making sure she was happy with her timepiece.
These watches are a lasting investment without the price-tag to match. the only problem is that they are so good, you will only need one but want more!”
