“This is a very good display case once assembled.
For our purpose of displaying model ships, it is esthetically superb.
It is engineered very well and is rock solid and stable after careful assembly.
The shipping boxes on a pallet were intelligently designed and stacked.
The 1/4" glass is very strong and heavy. The drilled holes are very accurate but not aircraft tolerance perfect. Some gentle massaging was necessary. DO NOT final tighten any fasteners until the roof is on. Then tighten GENTLY.
Assembly was a pleasant job because I have assembled and maintained complex and delicate machinery for 50 years.
We assembled our case at working height on it's permanent table base.
For those without such experience and skills, qualified assistance is essential as some of the glass panels weigh over 30 pounds and the assembly process requires knowledge of materials and fasteners and patient precision.
As such, I would suggest:
1. Offer the case(s) fully assembled. ( shipping and insurance costs would increase.)
2. Suggested modest product improvements:
Increase the thickness of the clear plastic assembly washers that pad the glass panels from the steel brackets, machine screws, nuts and washers.
Also include double the number of those clear plastic washers to provide padding on both sides of the glass panels. I substituted neoprene backed stainless washers on some of the fasteners for durability, strength and esthetics.
Finally, should you need to move the assembled case, be very careful.
It weighs over 200 pounds and glass is unforgiving.”
