“I think this is an awesome bike!.
If you want what you think of as a "traditional" Sportster then this isn't the bike for you. The riding position is more akin to a "big trailie" than any Harley I've ridden whilst both the brakes and steering work (most un-Harley like)and the engine pulls like a train from about 1500 revs right round to the red line at 7000. It tops out at a bit over the ton but as you're out in the wind with that upright position you'd probably need to glue your hands to the bars to go that fast without leaving via the back door.
For anyone who's interested this model doesn't use very much that is common across any other Harley. The engine is a 1200 Sportster engine but a modified one, oil jet cooling on the valves and pistons, higher compression ratio and different fuel injection so 90+BHP instead of about 60. The transmission is standard Sportster though, 5 speeds and a belt. Everything else, other than the switch gear is different, frame, wheels, brakes, suspension - all of it.
The gear change still clonks like a Harley though and it's a biggish bike plus the fuel low light comes on after between 10 and 50 miles from full (you only get about 100 miles worth in the tank anyway) so some things haven't changed.
As I said at the beginning, I think it's an awesome bike and the only think I'd swap it for is an XR1200X!”
