“very good power to weight ratio for the type of bike and the torque is impressive, less impressive is the joke front mud guard, lack of under seat storage and no centre stand as standard.”
“I use it to commute around London, it's compact and easy to park, exhausts under the seat means not so easy for other people to scratch etc. The mirror arms are fixed which i would like to alter so I can fold them in but the circular mirrors give a good rear view of traffic.
I do about 120 miles off one tank in the city. Riding it down from Scotland I got considerably more off one tank. I don't have experience of sportsbikes (closest is a Kawasaki Z750 which I liked a lot but had 2 stolen) but it handles well on the motorway for a situp bike. Pulls well through all the gears and feels solid on the road at high speed.
Haven't had any servicing done yet but my bike shop recommended it for good value parts from Honda and relatively cheap to purchase.
On the whole I would recommend it as a bike. It took me a little while to adjust to the handling after my Yamaha Fazer but I like the step up in power & expect to be keeping it for some time.”
“I bought my Honda brand new 12 years ago, I am still riding it, I did not want a racer but didn't want to spend loads of money, I wanted a bigger bike, I took the 900 hornet for a test drive & never looked back, at the time this bike had only been out a few months, so not a lot of feed back from owners, so really buying it blind, however 12 years down the line as this bike has not been abused it still runs great, the only thing I've had to replace is the fuel pump that was in May 2014, as this bike made with the restricted fireblade engine I could de-restrict e.t.c. but have never felt the need, yes I do fancy other bikes & indeed test rode them, but something just say's "keep it". I have thought keep the Hornet & buy another bike which I may very well do, maybe one day the 2002 Honda CB 900 F2 Hornet will be worth more than I paid for it.”
“Great alround bike, abs works, scratched and toured 3500 miles so far its getting faster now its covered the milage. But I just received motorcycle safety recall from yamaha that under certain circumstances the positive lead from the battery may be pinched/ between the bottom of the seat and its bracket and in extreme cases the insulation of the lead wire may be damaged such that the exposed wire may short circuit with associated fire risk.hope this useful.”
