“I moved to the VFR800x from almost 20 years of the VFR800 (inc its 750 predecessor). Big mistake:
- it's bigger / bulkier than the VFR800 which makes getting through London traffic harder.
- the elevated handlebar position resulted in me getting acute tendonitis (tennis elbow) in my left elbow - so painful that there were times I could not ride or, even, pick up a book. This has now passed but did have me close to getting ride of the bike.
- the ignition position is fiddly.
- the heated grips installed by Honda as part of the sales package don't get anything like warm enough to be any use.
- the opening for fuel (i.e. once the fuel cap is open) is very fiddly.
- the wing mirrors are a nightmare to position with the nuts used to fix them in place being difficult to adjust. Mirrors are easily knocked out of position.
One plus is that I like the ride position (although the seat felt hard and squared off when I first got it but I do not notice this now) and it feels like a well-made, quality machine. It would be even better with an automatic clutch like some cheaper models get.
Would I buy this bike again? No. I should have stuck with the VFR800.”
“It's a sit up and beg VFR 800, can poodle down lanes looking over the hedges or go like stink! Happy in town or on a motorway, absolutely love it.
Came with full luggage, just added a hugger and a fender extender and jobs a good in! Just love the roar it makes when the Vtec kicks in.”
“I love this bike it makes me smile everytime I ride it. It handles great, it revs fast and smoothly, has great brakes and sounds superb with leo vince end can. I have also added full givi luggage which gives the same capacity as the bmw r1200rt I changed from. I have lost some of the refinement the bmw gave me but gained much more fun and smiles! Personally for what I want from a bike, weekend blasts and occasional long runs this machine is excellent.”
“very good bike but it toke a long time to get used to it as its a very heavy bike
like the ride position good on cornering and good response from the throttle”
“I love this bike's engine and transmission!
It has very good handling and comfortable suspension but the seat is unsatisfactory.
The relationship between the seat and foot pegs leaves a lot to be desired. Within 50 or 60 miles the rider is pushed forward and downward by the seat, causing discomfort as the crutch of ones trousers is pulled too tight. I have had to buy an aftermarket seat to rectify the problem. My previous VFR800 FI was far better! Disappointing really.”
“I went for the VFR800 Crossrunner X because it is a great all round bike and certainly lives up to the name. It is comfortable and is great on the handling even when loaded and carrying a passenger well pleased with the bike.”
