Great bike all round, just the size of tank lets it down.

Its not the best.....Its by no means bad. Its got awesome V Twin grunt.. Its sounds awesome, the ground rumbles.. Brakes are adequate/good with quality pads (Brembo). Suspension is standard 90's , basic adjustment and needs assistance to be better. Forks springs and oil have been changed in mine and its much better. Build quality is normal Honda, V good. Mine is nearly 18 years old and certainly not showing its age. Plenty of forums for information and loads of tweaks and customisations you can get. I have been riding over 20 years on various bikes 350 LC, FZ 600, GXSR 750 slingshot, No bike (kids) and now have a VTR. Is it my favourite? No. the LC is! But I really really really like it. Cheap to buy, goes fast if I want, looks good (to me anyway) and cheap to insure (for me again) Fuel economy is not really a problem ( I ain't good but its a 1 litre V Twin, give it a handful and it will drink petrol),,, the small fuel tank is the problem. I can get nearly 100miles to a tank (Bike upright when filling!). its okay for rides out but touring or TT means regular fuel stops

These Firestorms are awesome bikes and such great value. This is my second Firestorm...year 2000 and bought in 2013 for under 2 grand! Can't believe how it pulls in any gear and has so much bottom end torque....much more fun than an i4. And the sound, with aftermarket cans, is awesome...reminds me of Foggy at Assen in the heyday of the 916! Brakes and handling are way above my road riding skills, and unless your a wannabe road racer, I suspect the ride and on-road performance is certainly above most people's needs. With 0-60 in 2.9 second and 0-100 in under 6 seconds (professional rider - closed course!), I can't see how you would need more power. Great value, reliable, and easy to maintain and insure, the Firestorm wins my vote.

The firestorm for me is all about the engine and it doesn't disappoint. There's plenty of low down grunt, and enough top end for country road blasts. Nothing beats a thumping 1 litre V-Twin. It was a '99 model so it didn't have any modern features or rider aides. Comfort varies for people a lot but I got on well with this bike and I could easily manage a 200 mile trip with no problems (I'm 12 stone, and 5'10"). The only negative thing I can mention about this bike is the tank range. On one trip I squeezed 120 miles out of it driving very steadily. All in all, a great bike!

The Firestorm is a well balanced all rounder it loves the open road and its V twin engine delivers plenty of low down torque so no need to have the engine screaming to get it to move. Good points handles well, excellent braking, good riding position even on the long journey's. Bad points, Fuel capacity could be better 110 miles until fuel light comes on and another 20miles after that it will be empty If you love V twins the firestorm will not disappoint, Overall 9/10.
