This bike is as good as my RC30. Perhaps not quite as nimble, but the extra 30 BHP more than compensates. Over the years it has become my favorite to ride. At my age (74) I have had the pleasure of riding brand new Thruxton Triumphs, Thruxton Velocetts, Gold Stars etc. If it had an Amal carburettor then I have probably ridden it. But, in retrospect, give me todays reliable engine, incredible brakes and tyre grip for safer riding. Oh, and if you are thinking of buying an RC30 'J', demand proof that all the soft steel inlet valves fitted by Honda have been changed to a quality material. I changed all mine in 1988 using race valves made locally in Wolverhampton. The valve clearance is the same today after 47,000 miles as when I re-shimmed in 1988.

A fantastically engineered and well built motorcycle - produced by Honda to take on (and beat) Ducati in the WSB series. Produced only in sufficient numbers to qualify for WSB, and with each machine being sold to the public at a loss by Honda - the SP2 is an appreciating Classic in the making. A joy to ride at any pace, and quite capable as a tourer, as well as an out and out race replica. Overall, an absolutely superb motorcycle.

The Honda VTRs sp2. What a bike,I've had 5,ranging from the sp1,sp-y,and the sp2. They are a heavy bike and the fuel consumption is not ideal.but once you've master the ride and how the power delivery is in the rev range it's a fantastic ride with an awful lot of noise and excitement.the parts are average priced and still on the market.but it's the looks and feel of the bike, there's nothing to compare it to,it's that good.but like I've said,it is a bit on the heavy side.its been known as the tractor of the motorbike world.only by those who can't afford to buy the sp range.still expensive, but very well worth it.

Lots of people tried to put me off buying this bike for years ,with uncomfortable, poor fuelling ect.its a bike that feels carved out of one piece of aluminium such is the build quality !cant think of a bike that beats it(I own gl1000 gold wing and cbr1100 as well),runs best on super unleaded ! Works only above 60mph , but is pure joy above this speed handling ,brakes all work fantastic ! Can't see me selling till I can't ride it!

The SP2 isn't for everyone. Its full on and lots of fun if you trust it. Not good in traffic or in town but superb on the open road. The noise makes you smile and others cover their ears.
