My GTR was an excellent machine for long distance touring. It has excellent fuel economy for the size ans weight of the bike and the performance is superb. The only drawbacks are the weight of the bike for low speed manoeuvres and the service intervals. 3500 between services just is not good enough. If anyone is thinking of buying a GTR I would advise getting the 2010 onwards model. The upgrades in safety and fairing heat deflection are worth it. I now have a Triumph Explorer. Excellent bike with 10,000 mile service intervals!!

I am amaze how well it handle for a tourer. sometimes i have got to remind myself that I have got luggages on. if i drive it really hard then the respond of the suspensions reminds me that i am not on a sport bike. I could not wish for another bike. i can tour with it, ride fast or take it easy.. what more would I want?.

Im really happy with this bike. Its everything I wanted. Comfort, speed ,economy.. Took it to the Scottish highlands just after I bought it and there was no fatigue on my part. I havent as yet found anything Im disappointed with. I wanted linked brakes which work very well. The mirrors give a lovely wide view of what Im leaving behind.

It's a big, heavy bike but once your on it it's easy to handle and feels smaller and lighter than it is. The brakes are very good and road holding extremely good and hasn't given me any scares in 12 K miles. I always get over 40 MPG running around and have had well over 50 MPG whilst touring. Whilst touring I use a 55L top box and both panniers with a larger screen and generally sit at about 80 MPH, so I think the fuel consumption is remarkable. The only thing letting my 5 year old bike down is the black paint has started to lift off the silencer. The old girl has well over 20K on the clock now and gets ridden through the winter so I'm pleased after some of the bikes I've owned. I would buy another and don't plan to get rid of mine yet which should tell you plenty about my thoughts on the bike. The bike is very placid at lower revs and easy to ride in traffic but give the right hand a twist and off you go and then the VVT cuts in and off you go again, thank god the brakes and handling are as good as they are as this is a fast bike when you ask it to be.
