I am 66 years old,and been biking for nearly 50 years, but only on MZ and CZ 250 and 150 cc's.I wanted a modern bike with electric start(a first for me),not too heavy, reliable to enjoy a few more rides around our countryside. The ER5 had good reviews as a "first big bike",as a training bike and a good overall ride without extremes. It has certainly filled the bill for me,I am very pleased with my immaculate, low mileage example.

A waste of money might be ok as a town bike for someone who's not bothered by the poor handleing, it's not for me, sold it just recovered what I spent on in the first place.

FOR A 16 YEAR OLD BIKE THAT WAS £750.00 IT OUT PERFORMS MOST NEW BIKES. RELIABILITY IS SECOND TO NONE AND ITS QUITE QUICK. SO FAR IN THE YEAR THAT I HAVE HAD IT ALL I HAVE DONE IS CHANGE THE OIL AND COOLANT. IT FLEW THROUGH THE MOT AND I WOULD HAVE ANOTHER WITHOUT ANY HESITATION.

Good commuter bike. Only problem is the battery life is not great, especially if the bike is not used for a week or two.

Very pleased with my bike. Comfort wise the seat is comfy and I've never had any issues with my back on it. However I find my hand and wrists do suffer. If like me you have bad circulation to your hands, you might want to consider if you can deal with your fingers going numb after 20 minutes. Saying that it's something I'm happy to live with as the bike brings big smiles to my face. Never had any maintenance problems, I've only ever changed my speedo cable. Going around corners is smooth and steady. Very reliable bike. Love it.

Solid, dependable, tough hack. Officially a horsepower or two too much for A2 but really, I doubt those ponies were all available even from the factory. Predictable and steady with enough tyre to even out the road in a way a 125 can never do. Frugal and cheap to run this is a good introduction to more powerful bikes. Great for filtering it is as easy in town as a 125. What does show its age are the brakes. The front disc in particular needs a good pull and is not a patch on more recent set ups. Makes you back off a little earlier which is no bad thing. You can overtake and the engine will rev out to high revs but it doesn't like the upper reaches of the rev range. Even still overtaking is possible given planning and it will still outdrag 90% of road vehicles at legal speeds.
