“A comfortable bike with real world performance. I was getting tired of endlessly breaking the speed limit on my sports 1000 so went for the GPZ - it's comfortable, economical and fun to ride, it just isn't very impressive!”
“THIS BIKE WAS AIMED AT A TRANSITION TO THE LARGER MORE POWERFULL BIKES.
ONE WOULD ASSUMED A DEGREE OF SIMPLICITY WOULD BE DESIGNED INTO THE MACHINE FOR LESS KNOWLEDGEABLE YOUNGER BIKERS TO USE AS A LEARNING CURVE.
HOWS THIS FOR COMPLEXITY
WATER COOLED ENGINE, WATER PUMP,RADIATOR,HOT WATER JACKET TO CARBS,
REMOVE PART OF FRAME FOR ENGINE ACCESS.
CERTAINLY NOT DESIGNED FOR HOME SERVICING A GOLD MINE FOR THE AGENTS WORKSHOP.
AS AN ASIDE THE SEMI RECLINING RIDING POSITION PLACES TOO MUCH STRAIN ON THE WRISTS THERE IS A LUCRATIVE MARKET FOR CONVERSIONS TO A MORE CONVENTIONAL TOURING POSITION BE REPLACING THE HANDLE BAR UNITS.
[THESE CONVERSIONS COVER A COMPLETE RANGE OF BIKES ]”
“For the low price can't complain. My downsides would be, front end is too soft, carb issues but for the price excellent and much quicker than I'd expected it to be. I've had the GPZ500 8 years and was tempted by and SV650 but having tried it not fussed enough to change as cheap tax, insurance, tyres and enough grunt to manage at motorway speeds no worries.”
“It's my first bike for 28 years just looking forward to the summer and taking it out. Got the bike off a good mate, it has very low mileage and has always been well maintain.

“Firstly, bear in mind the fact that this bike is 17 years old, almost a classic, and has the handling and brakes of that time. It is perfect for my requirements, light to handle, nimble, with an amazing turn of speed, when required, good fuel economy, comfortable and an aptitude to cover long distances when needed, and the ability to carry luggage. It is also quite adept at commuting, being a twin, easy to park in the smallest of spaces and slim when filtering through traffic. I will not compare it to modern bikes, as i feel that the major manufacturers have lost their way, ( or the plot ) with some of their current overpriced offerings. For me the GPZ500s is perfectly fit for purpose, and still better than its decendants.
Regards Andy.”
