I bought my Z1000 new in 2005. I wanted a change from the usual super sports I'd had in the past. The Z1000 has been excellent. It performs extremely well and has proved to be a good bike for touring. I use a Ventura luggage rack which is cavernous. The pillion seat is poor to say the least. I put on a sponge seat over the original fitment to make it comfortable for the pillion when touring. Would I buy another Z1000. Most definitely

As with most bikes it took a couple of weeks to get comfortable with the riding position & handling. Once that was achieved I have really been enjoying short & long rides.

This model was my dream bike, i waited a few years to get hold of one, then a local dealer had one on his forcourt, went and checked her out one day on way home from work, went home doing the sums, can i afford her, simple answer no. Then i was offered extra work each week, my dream bike was starting to look good, in the end i got a bank loan and had the bike by the end of the week, got it insured and taxed and off i went, my god that first week i was on cloud 9, if i wound the throttle back i was riding a rocket, then hit the brakes the front tyre would grip and the bike would come to a stop in a few feet from 55mph lifting the backend, Over the course of the next few weeks, i have add carbon fibre panels,Chrome radiator grill cover, some nuts and bolts which were rusted etc to bring it back to showroom condition, The bad side of the bike was the brakepads where shot, so that cost me £70 to replace them, the bike was fitted with LED winkers but the relay was wrong flashing too fast, so a LED relay was fitted to cure this, also did and oil change and new oil filter as never knew when this had been done last, bought myself an ABBA stand so i could pop the bike up and work on her, i need two new brake disc at the front as one is wrapped a little according to the mot i had in August, wonderful i thought, and to cap it all i lost the key one night when i came home from work, i went back to the dealer i bought her from hoping he could help, but didn't, so luckly a chap found the key and handed it back to me, turns out i needed a master key, from which you can make copies, so now i am looking at a thousand + to fix this problem, so my dream bike has turned into a nightmare, but still love her though!
