Bought this brand new and when I first had it - wow what a smooth ride. That was later to change though.
I've got to say the best 2 parts about this bike for me were the handling and the torque. I could chuck this this around really quickly and with easy. Everyone was astonished over the way I rode this thing in the twisties. The handling is sooo good I managed to scrap both lower side fairings cranked right over and powering hard out of bends.
The traction control on this bike is the best I have every experience. Try riding up an icy lane with a 200bhp bike. The traction control system gently shaves off any wheel spin instantly in a very sophisticated manor. The pure outright power is nothing short of stunning. In 12k miles I very rarely went past 6k revs. It was like an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Now for the cons
This bike spent so much time back at the dealers. It was perfect up until 3.5k when I had a new back tyre fitted which took three hours! After that there seemed to be a vibration on the left side of the tank during acceleration. At 3.8k the nose cone started to crack around the windscreen bolts. I noticed the nose cone wasn't quite lined up correctly.
The nose cone was changed under warranty and a new one fitted. The vibration was made slightly better by the dealer. However, after not too long the second note cone started to crack once again around the windshield area. The vibration had become a lot worse and after a long ride my hands and legs would tingle for about 3 days. As well as this once of the cooling fans had began to melt. I was advise that one of the exhaust manifold gaskets had failed which was melting the fan. After much debate a 3rd nose cone was fitted and new fairing brackets install. However the bike still vibrated and I was told they all do that. I tried a friends who had the same model and this just wasn't true.
I heard a rumour that the bike was dropped by the dealer when changing the back tyre at 3.5k which is when all the problems started. Was true or a rumour, I just don't know. Does the bikes age quickly after 3.5k or was it damaged, who knows?
If it didn't have any of these issues then I would probably still have it. Instead I lost £5500 on it after one year when I traded it in.
Such a shame as it was a lovely bike to start with which I was intending to keep for many years.
