“I bought this as my first bike and first off-road bike. What a toy!! It's great fun, easy to ride on and off road (on nobbly tyres) and screams like a banshee! Fill up on the 2002 version is great, it's a seperate 2 stroke tank so no mixing required. Just fill up at the garage and it's done.
Off road- needs a bit of attention. The clutch needed replacing, grips, bars, levers, foot pegs, plastics and seat, but for 1500 quid it's easy work. If you were to ride it on the road, all the stock equipment would be fine for a bit of fun (need to fit some supermoto tyres though).
I much prefer the two stroke to four stroke dirt bikes. I have ridden a few four strokers of varying capacity, and the smaller ones lack power while the big ones seem a bit too tractor like for me. In my opinion the two stroke is the best combination of power and weight but it does take some getting used to the strange power delivery. When you get it, there is nothing better.
I'd definitely recommend any first time users getting a lower capacity (200-250) 2 stroke, definitely an old one. It forces you to ride properly off road and not be lazy. Maintenance and mods wise, you build confidence with the bike as it's virtually unbreakable. Most parts are interchangable or available from KTM.
Overall, cracking bike! I never would move away from the Orange ones now!”
“I instantly fell in love with my KTM EXE 200 not only was it head turner but it went really well. great fun on and off road . Only fault is parts are not cheap! But your on a winner if u love your 2 stroke of road bikes.”
