“Very underrated bike. Bike has covered 61,000 miles. I have done 40,000 in last 8 years with little more than regular maintenance. Used in all weathers. Very reliable, economical, lots of fun and cheaper to run than a pair of shoes. Often get comments from other bikers on how quick it is for a 500.”
“The Suzuki 500 GS is the bike I learned to ride on and for me it is everything I need. A little chuggy as are all 2 cylinder models but no water cooling, good starting and has been 100% reliable. Battery compartment allows a good sized battery unlike many models with bigger engines. Ride is extremely comfortable and has just enough grunt to be exciting. I have ridden my son's Hornet which is beautifully smooth but extremely nervous...I prefer the solidity of the 500 GS (and the better mileage!). I replaced the rather poor quality exhaust with a stainless Motad and the bike looks really good even after 30 000 miles.”
“must admit it was the smallest cc bike I have owned but it did everything you asked of it and it did it very easily I am even thinking of selling my Honda cb1100sf-y and buying another suzi also maintenance is very simple and all can be done by most people 10 out of ten.”
“It has been reliable, it doesn't take a lot of petrol and is great for short or medium journeys. It does get a bit tiring on longer journeys but that might just be me. it is not the fastest bike on the road but still accelerates quite well and will never pull a wheelie if you open it up. It does what it's supposed to it is a medium sized commuter bike. And I love it.
