No matter what I think or say, at the end of the day it's always going to be simply a Jawa. To give any readers an inkling of how much I love the bike - in 30 months of ownership I've clocked up 30,000 miles. To be brutal the bike is slow, clunky in its operation, fairly noise/smelly and all round pretty basic - exactly what Jawas gave always been. If you want speed, knee scraping cornering and the very latest styling then get a modern sports bike. I love the lazy style of riding that was so popular back in the 30's and 40's and since I'm never in a rush to get anywhere I can enjoy the quiet country lanes on the Jawa and scenic views often missed by faster bikers. Other than simply enjoying the bike for what it is there are a few plus points - 30,000 miles on original chain and sprockets (still on the bike now), minimum 70 mpg which rises to around 90 mpg on a long run, easy on tyres, excellent front brake, electric start/electronic ignition and very frugal on 2 stroke oil. If run on fully synthetic 2 stroke oil there us no need for continual de-coking. Servicing is also very cheap and really easy to do. There is only one supplier of new Jawas and that being F2 Motorcycles run by David Angel. I have found David to be the most helpful of bike dealers - it's not about the sale but totally about enjoying the bike! Most bikers will always hate Jawas but for the select few who "get it" they enjoy the bike for what it is.
