“Awesome bike for touring and covering distance. I packed an Airhawk seat on my last trip to Scotland, but never used it as I found the standard seat to be very comfortable.
My only gripe is that it can be heavy moving it around outside my garage. On the road, it handles beautifully and shift along if needed. Like the gear indicator as it feels that it needs a 6th gear and I still try for one even after 2 years ownership. Mine is a 2010 model.”
“I bought this bike second hand when it was 3 years old. Its the best bike I’ve ever had. It is now 8 years old and still going strong. We have been all over Europe on it. Even with Rider, pillion passenger and fully laden with luggage it purrs along nicely. We travelled 670 miles in one day giving great MPG and apart from sore bums at the end of the day it was an easy ride. In rain it gives great protection and just never feels that it will let you down. Its got plenty of power and even though it is a heavy bike it never feels like it when riding.”
“Intersting that the FJR has a 5 speed gearbox. Could definitely have done with a 6th gear. Initially takes some getting used to but overall a very VERY good bike.”
“Some think it is a bit dated in styling now, but I prefer this to most of the modern ugly stuff. Very comfortable and lots of power for touring 2-up with luggage. Very reliable; this is the second one I've had and neither let me down, ever.”
“As per many this is only a 5 speed, which is weird in the world of a big fast comfy sports tourer. It has torque that is second to none, comfy , you can get 50 mpg If ridden sensibly, downside the 2006 plus models are even heavier than previous versions...money well spent since I got an 11 plate for 5k!!!! Only had 9k on the clock!!”
