The example I bought was not a great condition bike anyway so I can't fully judge. But the 400 is old now and they show signs of it. But once I fixed mine up I still got carb problems. Honestly the carbs on these bikes are so sensitive and easy to break, read other stories about and there will be a mention of the carbs there somewhere. The bike is not terribly fast, actually is half assed slow at times, but then you get moments where it feels like a rocket. In town it is awful to live with but its light(ish) and you have less trouble than bigger sports bikes. However it is still a sports bike. Expect poor turning circles, slow cornering speeds and right roads to wind you up with you lack of torgue. All in all the doss still look cool, sounds incredible at 14,500 rpm, and does have a good bit of go in it. If you get a nice one it will stand out as they are quite rare compared to a vfr. As a first big bike I would not recommend unless you are a mechanic. I sold mine and bought an SV 650 and it's South better. It's faster, easier to live with, and is better looking in my opinion... Comfier too. The GSXR is great but it's old, so bear this in mind. When buying look for pitting on the rear sub frame and look for carb hiccups. If there is any struggle to run or rough running at idle then avoid it like the plague as you will be always messing with it.
