I replaced a BMW R1200RT with my F650GS twin due to the RT being too big & numb for commuting (although it was great at everything else). The only thing I miss is the wind protection that the RT provided, for everything else the GS is brilliant. It's light, nimble, very well balanced, excellent on fuel (avg 70mpg), nippy enough, comfortable (with the BMW comfort seat). I have also replaced the tiny screen with a larger aftermarket one, which is a must if you ever want to go over 60mph.

I bought my 2008 twin model second hand and to be honest it is the best bike I have ever ridden. I had to ride from Yorkshire to London and back in November 2016 in the worst conditions I have ever experienced and the Beemer never missed a beat and that included going through a flood that would have killed other bikes. My only gripe is that the indicator switches are hidden behind the horn switch and the indicator cancellation switch. The handling is superb and precise and throttle response excellent. If you want a good, cheap reliable adventure bike the the BMW F650GS 800cc Twin is a good buy

This is the first single pot I've owned, and apart from being a pain in the butt to work on (BMW) and15yrs old it certainly puts a smile on my face so much so that I'd most definately have another one 650cc of pleasure - cracking little bike

Some extra lights added and a very good set of tyres makes her even better.

Not the fastest or sleekest bike and the high riding position can be off putting if coming from a sports tourer but I'd reliable quite maneuverable and economic.

I am a mature rider and I really love this bike. I have had various styles of bike throughout my riding career and enjoyed every one of them in its own way. I don't enjoy long journeys on main roads anymore, I enjoy country lanes and exploring green lanes and the GS is just perfect, it has superb handling on normal roads and whilst not fast it is very agile. I love this bike.
