“Great bike, the foot pegs could be further forward for me being 5ft 10ins. The V twin sounds and performs excellent, I get better fuel consumption around 58 mpg than the available data shows.”
“Good bike for touring. Ideal for short legged riders. Has good speed and power for an 800 cc motorcycle. This bike will still look good after 20 years of riding if all you ever do is clean it a few times a month. Make sure the bike is properly serviced and this bike will last you a lot of years. New parts can be expensive but there are plenty of second hand parts but you may need to buy them from the USA if you need them to be perfect. Handles good but could do with an extra disc and brake on the front for extra stopping power. If fitting a scot oiler make sure the carbs are balanced correctly. I would definitely buy another if they still made this model and spec but would prefer it to have a shaft drive instead of a chain.”
“My SUzuki is one of the best bikes I have had, This is due mostly, To me being quite short in the leg. the other factor is the weight of the bike also very good as the Marauder is very light, I have been a motorcycle rider for some fifty years and have had, and ridden all makes of bikes in that time, the bike be for the Marauder was a Suzuki bandit all so a very good bike. If you are of small stature or getting on a bit like me then I would look at the suzuki bikes as for me they make a range to suite all riders My marauder is a old one with lots of mileage but still a good runner its custom painted and a few other bits added on you can do a lot of custom work to a Suzuki they are built for it, my last word Suzuki all the way and back.”
“I have had the bike for 9 years now and clocked up over 25,000 miles on it. It still looks good and has had little money thrown at it over the years. Up until recently. I have had to change all the bearings but not the wheel bearings, other than general maintenance and the front forks corroding on the inside I am very happy with the overall lasting appearance and the way it rides. It would have been great if they had put a shaft drive on it but as long as the chain is well cared for, it lasts very well. It is a cruiser therefore not built to keep up with super bikes. You realise this whilst cornering as the pegs will dig into the ground if you decide to take the corners too tight. It is equivalent to the new Kawasaki 650 which I expect will be my next bike. It has enough power and low down torque for an 800cc although you need to be in the right gear for the 90 degree up hill bends. All in all it's a shame they don't make them any more as I definitely would have bought another one.”
“This bike is a pleasure to ride once you change the saddle as standard one is not the best.
It has great looks and handles better than other cruisers I have been on I can lay it down round corners like its on rails.
All in all it's great getting very rare to find a good one”
“I've had sports bike, tourers and now getting on in years went for a cruiser. The Suzuki VZ800 Intruder is the best bike I've ever had, I wish I'd bought one years ago. Absolutely fantastic handling. The only slight criticism is the drum brake on the rear wheel, has a tendency to lock if you brake too hard. got used to it now but if it was upgraded to a disc brake the bike would be 100% spot on.”
