This is my first big bike bought 7 years ago when I was 58 years old. It will probably be my last big bike too but that's no reflection on the bike its just that I find it increasingly difficult to get it on its centre stand with every passing year and the side stand feels too insecure in my garage with other activity adjacent. If there was a classic styled bike that was 50kg lighter I would probably swap it.

Having retired at the age of 66 I decided to re-live my days of motor cycling in the 1960's but not being able to decide between a classic or a modern bike, the modern classic as epitomised by the Bonny fitted the bill admirably. It's great just to get out and spend an hour or so touring round the countryside - that's all I use it for - no commuting, no thrashing, no burn ups- just the joy of the open road and a bit of power when I want it. And when it's not fit weather to ride I look at the machine in the garage and admire it's beauty. .

In eight years I've done about 10,000 miles - marriage and middle age have clipped my wings a bit. In that time the machine has been impeccably reliable and the engine still sounds 'tight' or mechanically as new. With ca 50 hp sports bike riders would be underwhelmed but it pulls strongly enough and I've scraped the ton on occasion - uncomfortable for any time with no fairing. The finish has also endured well, all bar the (Italian made hmm) chrome to the front forks which has pitted and will need new hard chroming. I often like to view the machine from a distance and reflect on how fine looking it is. It's fine for my needs and will probably see my riding days out so yes, I'll happily recommend it to anyone. Fuel economy is pretty good 60 plus mpg is possible on long runs. For some reason the steering seems a bit skittish or flighty and doesn't cope well with even slightly raised white lines. I expect this is something to do with the geometry although it has a fairly long wheel base. This is my only reservation - perhaps putting Metzeler tyres on might improve matters (I'm advised). Whenever I park up older men will approach and become misty-eyed with reminiscences of owning triumphs although I explain that it's a wolf in sheep's clothing with rather more sophisticated engine internals that the original Triumph twins. So it has charm factor too.

great bike from retro looks to retro sound, added saddle bags and full screen great for touring, on your own or 2 up, handles great through all weathers, the 865cc engine runs all day purring, has king/queen seat so comfy rides as well, looks good when all that chrome is gleaming, a deffinate head turner.
