“Like all things there is wear and tear, city driving does pay its toll, you need to expect extra parts to be replaced. As a touring bike this is the best, expect to ride for up to 16 hours and get out the next day and still love it. But you need to max out on extras for this BMW tourer ,to truely appreciate it, for its reward you will not regret it!”
“Bought the bike brand new 2011 and rode back from the showroom thinking what have I done? Previous three bikes had been an exup, an st4s and 1100st triumph so the power difference was immense. Junked the catalytic convertor, fitted a k&n air filter after the run in period and was still completely underwhelmed. Just found it boring. Went to Lake Como on it. Put a pair of pilot road two's on it. Nothing about it had any real passion or soul.
Did an epic trip on it last year doing the Grossglockner, Transfagarren, Crete the back via the Stelvio. It never missed a beat, never scared me, kept up am reasonable pace with us doing 400 miles some days and I have to admit, functional it definitely is. There is nothing I would currently change it for, unless Ducati launch a new st4s! It does everything, in any conditions, adequately. Its just boring.”
“Since buying my F800ST I have fitted bar backs & a high touring screen, this gives a more upright riding position and much less wind blast, this has made a good bike into a great touring bike that is very comfortable at any speed.”
