“Being 48 years old and having not ridden for 20 years, I embarked on a quest to find a bike that wasn't "covered in plastic"( as I am not a fan now and never was). My era of muscle bikes were the XS1100's, GS1100's etc so I spent months looking for what would suit me now.
I trawled through reviews and got a little frustrated as nothing jumped out that was really that different or quirky, that is until I fell upon a review of the Triumph Rocket 3. I found a dealership locally that had over 500 bikes in stock (so I was giving myself an open mind by looking at others in the flesh), however the bike I purchased stood out from the rest and was "THEE" bike in there.
Bought it, scared of it (at first), 4 months in now and I cant see myself riding anything else. It has its foibles and it demands respect (especially around tight corners and mini roundabouts) however the minute I fire it up to the minute it brings me home and into the garage, I have the biggest beeming smile on my face.”
“If you want something to ride that attracts a small admiring crowd each time you park up then this is the bike for you. Enjoy the look on people's faces when you correct them from wrongly guessing 'it must be at 1200' and enlighten them that it's actually a 2.3L...or for the younger generation, 46 of their 50cc mopeds will fit in to one of these. Yes they are pretty heavy, but you get used to that - just don't park it pointing down hill if you need to reverse out - you do it once
Apart from everything else they do go well - neck breaking torque and having ridden to Austria and back on mine can vouch for their comfort and ability to get round mountain passes quite happily. I ride the Classic model which is sadly and bizarrely no longer made, but that's also fine as it's holding it's value very nicely thank you!
These are bikes of character and certainly substance - long may they continue..”
