“After many years riding large tourers (1100cc and 1300cc) with full fairing and luggage, but not doing so many tours due to increasing hotel prices, I fancied something lighter and easier to ride for short journeys and day tours. Having ridden and enjoyed the big BMW GS series and being 6ft 3", I decided to try a tall slim lightweight machine with a smaller engine. Having read the reviews on the Japanese counterparts I decided to try a BMW G650X moto because of its combination of off road manoueverability and oo road tyres and brakes. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
Good for twisty road and short journeys. Great brakes and handling. Not good for motorway way work, but it holds it own on any short jouney. Goof fuel consumption but small range due to small fuel tank.
Love it to bits. Ideal for what I want. Will probably keep it just for fun even if I go back to another bike for long distance work.”
