“If like me you had a cafe racer back in the day and you can't afford an old classic or want something more reliable then the Thruxton is the bike to have, it's a great bike to ride and have fun on especially on those dry weekend ride out's.”
“its not a bad little bike its had its faults a whole 2 of them ignition switch which costs a lot £145 and its pickup coil died this was £62 i have done over 20,000 miles on it and i am very pleased with it”
“First thing was to put western bars on,then short reverse cone Megas with up jetted carbs.next got rid of air box and fitted k&n pod filters.sounds great goes good.don't want to go major fast more of a pose.had bike about eight yeas never let me down.”
“Firstly I'm an old git and this is my first bike after circa 20 years so clearly I was conscious of the size, type etc. Did I want a super bike, no, I'd probably end up in hospital. The Triumph Thruxton 'Cafe racer' style was the ideal bike I couldn't afford as a youngster but always yearned for. Now as an old git I could afford it. Had it since May this year and I've clocked up 3,000 miles so far. I get out whenever I can, on dry roads that is, and terrorise the neighbourhood. It looks great, handles well, is forgiving on corners, brakes are average but sufficient for the speeds I do, very reliable, not a fast bike, 110 mph pretty much tops, but fast enough for me, good riding position and comfortable.
Downside is it's a heavy bike, watch you don't overbalance and drop it. Not brilliant fuel consumption but maybe that's down to my driving style. Not a town bike as I feel that it's hard on the wrists in traffic.
Overall a great purchase, recommend one to anybody.”
