An excellent all round performer with a lot of on road prescience. The auxiliary lights add to this effect. The gearbox is very smooth and performance is very good. If I had too improve the bike I would preferred to of had more road biased tyre options and sizes and a power screen would be useful.

The Triumph Explorer is, without doubt, the best all round Motorbike I have ever owned. Initially I had an issue with the 'woodpecker' noise from the engine, but Triumph stepped in and sorted the issue without any fuss or drama. I have the comfort seat fitted, some nice Triumph and non Triumph Accessories fitted, and this has just enhanced the experience. Last year I toured Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland - did some crazy long days - and went through several passes including Stelvio and the Explorer performed on all levels. This year we toured Northern France and again she was awesome. I am so pleased I am changing currently for another Explorer as my mileage is getting high - going for the XC version this time. I have looked after her and got a great trade in deal. So all in all a great bike and great value for money.

The Tiger Explorer is a fantastic road bike, but I would hate to have to take it off road...it's far to heavy. Some may see this as a weakness but it can also be a strength as the weight allows it to carry luggage without and detrimental effects to handling or breaking. As a tourer it is both fast and smooth. The engine is this bikes main attraction. It is powerful and torquey yet easily achieves above 50mpg giving a tank range of over 200m. The gearbox is slick and the ratios are spot on allowing swift overtakes in any gear. The fuel injection is jerk free and the bike will pull in top gear from about 1500 revs. The throttle is sensitive but you soon get used to it. I usually cruise at about 3-4000 rpm but the bike will take off like a scolded cat above 5k. I like the shaft drive and the cruise control is a bonus. I picked the bike up in March 2014 and it's now covered nearly 9k miles. It has been very reliable although there have been a couple of niggling faults. These were immediately rectified under warranty. The bike came with free panniers, heated grips and heated seat. Personally I do not like the Triumph panniers. These were immediately sold on eBay and replaced with the Givi Trekkers I already had. I have also ditched the standard screen in favour of a Givi AirFlow which has resulted in less buffeting and a quieter ride. For me the handlebars were a bit low for this type of bike so I fitted adjustable handlebar risers. This was an easy job and did not require replacement hoses etc. I certainly don't miss the twin cam BMW 1200GS I traded in for it. If for some reason I had to replace it, another Triumph Explorer would be very close to the top of my list. Mike.
