“Upgraded to the Trophy after numerous BMWs and then a Tiger Explorer. Had tried the R1200RT, but found it too expensive. The Trophy engine is the same as in the Tiger Explorer, which is simply outstanding. Handling is pretty decent, but doesn't like bumpy country lanes. Screen excellent. Can sit comfy for a good couple of hours before I need to stop. Tank range is easily near 300 miles, even at motorway speeds.
Extremely badly with the Trophy. Well built. Superb sport tourer.”
“I bought my 1999, 1200 trophy, as a used model with a 1000 miles on the clock. I have ridden it all over Europe with my wife as a passenger, carrying all the associated luggage plus a tank bag, it does the job very well. I have never had a handling issue, even full loaded in poor weather, I had to change the seat for a comfortable bespoke one. A scotoiler made the chain and sprockets last very well and also meant that I didn't have to readjust the chain whilst touring every day! It's fuel consumption is a little greedy compared to todays alternatives but its reliability is outstanding. I have never had to call out the bike rescue. However, Ignition coils have failed regularly, approximately 6 (3 pairs), over 14 years, I have it regularly serviced by an independent engineer at the specified intervals. I am so pleased with it I fitted and intercom and Tom Tom rider navigation last year and have no plans to change it in the near future.”
“Had bike since new and despite some carburrettor problems caused by non running for a year it has performed sterling service throughout would recommend to anyone, only think would change is chain for shaft as per newest models.”
