“I bought the bike for £1600 3 years ago with 19000 miles.
I've ridden it all through the winter every day and it has been 100% reliable. The finish has survived remarkably well too, I only wash it once a week! This has been the only bike I've owned that has not given me loads of salt related issues like seized brakes and dissolving engine cases.
You can ride this bike all day without comfort becoming a problem and the fairing with the electric screen does an amazing job of keeping the weather off. There is also a teallt usefull storage box inside the fairing.
The 1100 coupled with a load 4 into 1 pipe has plenty of power and will pull from 20mph in top gear smoothly. The brakes powerful and the chassis is amazinly agile for such a big tourer. I changed the handle bars as I found the originals bent my wrists at an uncomfortable angle. For the money I paid you could not ask for more.”
“A brilliant bike, that up to now, has never let me down. It is heavy whilst stationary but once on the move handles with ease. It will cruise at 70 - 80 all day long. I have toured Morocco on it and apart from parts of the Rif mountains I prefered it to my r1150gs which I used the previous year. 30mph in 5th gear is easy and consequently it rides like an automatic on most days for normal riding. This together with the large fairing and adjustable electric screen means easy and comfortable riding in almost all conditions. All this and over 50mph at legal speeds makes this the ideal bike for me. 18 years old, the bike not me, and still looks very tidy and not out of date. BMW build quality as it used to be, so hopefully it will last for many more years to come. If it doesn't - I will look for another - I think they are that good and brilliant value for the money.”
