“The power & comfort is always there, but if I want a gentle cruise, that's easy too. The main consideration is the weight, these are A HEAVY bike. Still at 23 years it's very reliable/”
“I am the 3rd owner of this bike which was sold new via a dealer in the USA, an ex work colleague purchased the bike and owned it for 15 years, so it's in very good condition and only has 40K miles on it. Aside from the odd electrical glitches, fuses and bulbs, side stand cut off switch will activate over speed bumps at speed and upset the electrics also, I've never had a problem, considering mine is a 1993 (21yrs old) I'm amazed at the handling and torque it has and fuel economy even when cruising at (umm naught speed ;)). The mirror attachment ( clip) design is a bit silly, but it works ok, and found out the fuel management inlet settings had been played with by someone ( which is a big NO NO), had to replace the inlet manifold. The boxer engines are well known for low rev vibration and enjoy 5500rpm +.
Loads of information on the net about these bikes, becoming somewhat legendary and a few specialist part suppliers and mechanics around still with very reasonable prices. Less than 13K of these ever made, I intend to hold onto mine for may years. Happily buy another, perhaps the LT for longer cruises with a bit more faring wind protection and add on space within it.”
