“Love it! Something I should have done 30 years ago. Reliving my youth. Scooter is modded up, chrome side and front bars, handle grips, mirrors, lights etc, and monotone union flag seat cover and back rest. I get thumbs up everywhere I go. Since I bought it, I have had a new clutch and the front and rear brakes replaced. Not too expensive in comparison to problems with cars.
£5 fills the tank which can take me back and forth to work all week. If we could only get a decent spell of sunshine for me to get it on it more often I'd be happy. Try not to ride it in wet due to the chrome.”
“Never been interested in bikes before but always liked the look of the Vespa PX125. At the age of 55 decided I needed independance to get to work and back as I live close to work. Did my CBT and brought a PX125. It is great fun to ride and costs me £17 a year tax and £10 a month petrol. I ride it all year round unless there is snow on the ground. In 28 months of riding it has always started first time and never lets me down. I passed my test a year ago and have taken my wife and son on the back, which is a bit sluggish up hill. I am looking to change it next year for a 300 cc Vespa, but the PX 125 is a great first bike or short comute to work.”
“Owning a Vespa PX isn't about buying a scooter for getting from A to B. Vespas are about style and a way of life, the MOD life. It's rubbish at braking (under no circumstances use the front braking to slow down, you WILL hit the deck) The gears and clutch takes a bit of getting used too, but after a few miles it becomes 2nd nature.
But every time I'm out I'm smiling, the newer models retain the classic styling of the 60s, it turns heads, and starts every time. £6 for a full tank (lasts me two weeks - everyday use short trips)
If you want a scooter, and want to stand out a wee bit then it's the only choice.”
