“Bought mine brand new in 2005 and rode it as a commuter bike and over 6 years clocked up over 35,000 miles! Very trustworthy if maintained and i would highly recommend them. Its now retired for the occasional ride out but still starts up first time even after being sat for months at a time.”
“Had this bike 4 years, paid £700 for it and sold it for £900 so they hold their price well.
Look very pretty, people love them, very simple and thus reliable with 2 stroke motor.
The gearbox is awful, it's very slow- top speed about 55mph, and believe me you really don't want it to go any faster as it starts to get scarey.
Terrible to work on, what should be a simple job takes forever but parts are really cheap and it is a reliable bike.
Difficult not to love the looks but they are designed to potter around town, something they would be good at if the gearbox wasn't so bad”
“Vespa. Style, comfort, with a touch of the 1960's, but without bikers wanting to put you into a ditch. A classic piece of two wheeled engineering that has changed little through the ages. Not the first Scooter in the range having ridden T5's - P200 and various Px's since I was 18. Now in my 50's like stated not much has changed , apart from More grey hairs and less hair on top and the Vespa is a little safer with Disc brakes, and less weight with not as many Mirrors or lights, but more around the stomach.
Gone back to my roots and could be that teenager again riding to Bridlington , Whitby or one of the many Parts fairs. Same Faces same problems - Wrinkles and Baldness and the wife.
Vespa's are the Toys I never had as I grew up, but with a job and weekends free are now. As they say Just keeping the Faith.”
“Only good if you have a genius scooter mechanic not too far away. Would never buy a brand new one, as they're made in India and are pathetic.. wont be long before they're killing people via seizing and bad parts.”
