“2 years and 13000 miles riding all hours of the day and night in all weathers 365 days of the year. Has it ever failed me? -No. Not once. Any faults over the two years. -No. Good bits. Big petrol tank (good for 200-ish miles) Powerful engine for a 125cc. Excellent brakes with great feel. Mine is a non-abs version. Brilliant headlights. Reasonable storage. Yamaha warranty - I broke it, they fixed it, no questions asked. You may ask why I wrote 'no faults'. Well, a fault is something that just breaks without due cause. I caused it, so no, its not a fault. Just don't be gentle on the clutch whilst obsessing over mpg's. It glazes it up, causing judder.
What could be better? - Stretch the service intervals a little more for big milers like myself. A 12 volt charging socket should be standard on a scooter that costs over four grand, and maybe a light under the seat. But, I'm being picky.
How does it ride? Like a scooter.....except it has really superb handling as long as you respect that fact. The engine is after-all the swing arm on a scooter. It (like every other scooter I have owned) doesn't like being put under compression mid corner when you are pressing on a bit. How fast is it? - Well, it can sit at 70 mph on a motorway if thats your question. Does it like 70 mph....errrm, in a word -no. It's too fussy, has no power left and its only doing 50 mpg at that point. If you drop it back to a sedate 56 mph it will return over 95 mpg. In fact the best I have managed over my weekly commute is around 112 mpg. 62 mph is its happy medium. So, although its A & B road compatible, you will not be overtaking anything in safety at A road speeds. But then again, you wouldn't be on any learner legal 125cc.
Now, the conundrum. The upgrade is due.....X-Max 300 or 400. Because? Yes, I could buy a bike. I mean a motorcycle....with gears. But why? I like that big wide comfy seat. I'm a lazy git, and I like auto. I like the wind protection...I like the storage. That's why I'm a Scooterist.”
“Most expensive 125 cc scooter ever I would expect a better quality of plastic at price of nearly 4000 pounds
Bike gandles easily Brakes are discs bot rear and front. I would expect couple features like usb or power outlet at bike at high end of 125 cc”
