After not having a road bike for 15 years I thought a 660 four stroke single would be a good way to get back biking. Bit daunted by the seat height and weight at first but soon got over that. Over all a good ride but difficult handling at slow speed it requires a lot of clutch work as first gear is quite high especially for a pseudo off roader.

I have had numerous four cylinder bikes in the past along with two XT600s. The XT660Z can't compete with the power of a four cylinder however 70mpg at 70mph is fantastic. It's a great bike that I shall keep for several years.

After owning most types of bikes over the last 30 plus years I'll be sticking with this one for some time. If you are fed up with potholes and speed cameras and want a tight, fun experience wherever you are, this is it! Having said that, big A roads and motorways are no joy. Windy and soul less (particularly after my recent BMW). However in the Yorkshire Dales, where I live, I couldn't think of a better bike. A much tighter and more positive ride than my Suzuki DR650 and more practical than my previous mid weight KTM. I researched hard before buying this bike. The reviews all speak highly, and now I know why.

Great bike if you're not racing, I have a fireblade for that so its a work vehicle. The other half loves getting on the back as its comfy and slow. The fuel economy is around 50-60mpg. I have been greenlaning and its great off road. A bit heavy when fully fueld. It is slow but great fun nonetheless, highly recommend it.

Brilliant for motorways, just enough power.
