Do love my Virago, it's just a shame that they do not make them now, mine is 20 years old. Unfortunately due to my height 5ft nothing I can only ride custom bike and the virago and Honda Shadow (also don't make anymore) are the only ones I find comfortable and safe Linda

After buying this bike and adding a few extras, I got the bike I wanted. It is reliable, starting every time(after a new battery anyway),more comfortable sitting position than my car which really surprised me,brakes do just what you want when you need it(always good),handling is good but if you add a spotlight bar the turning circle is slightly reduced when moving the bike it a tight space. The power that you get as soon as you open the throttle surprised me as it just pulls so quick which makes you feel tht you are going quicker than you really are. The bad part is the engine crashbar that is fitted stops you from leaning the bike too far, if you fit a slightly smaller one then you get the lean. I had a windscreen fitted to check fuel consuption and found it was greatly reduced by about 50 miles although mine is the biggest you can get(considering getting a smaller one). The screen is great though if it's raining or cold as it helps to deflect both. Would recondmend fitting paniers as this has help me no end. Overall it's a good bike to have especially for long distance.

Great bike for small females (I'm 5ft) comfortable ride but had a lot of problems with my virago (electrics mainly, forks etc) but I have a real soft spot for my Virago. Lots of torque and good acceleration but top end speed isn't great. It's a great ride in the dry but plays up a lot in the wet. I used mine for work everyday (I'm a community health care assistant so was riding for 8+ hours a day) and was very comfortable. Due to all the maintenance issues with my Virago, I have since taken her off the road for a MotoGuzzi 750 but it was with a very heavy heart. I feel that a lot of my issues were down to the carelessness of the previous owner however, she needed a LOT of love to keep road safe. I would definitely recommend the Virago XV535 to females looking to transition to a bigger engine size, just be prepared to have to do a lot of work.

Bought it cheap, needing several parts, thanks EBay. Very pleased with it now up and running,no problems to date. Cheap to insure too Still turns heads for a 24 yrs old bike, some people had not even seen one before.
