Its a boring BMW R1200 but it does everything I need & want it to do very well, touring 2 up it ticks all the boxes with 50+ mpg & all day comfort, will change it for a used water cooled one in a couple of years Bill

An amazing bike that does everything and more with ease. You can load it up with everything including the kitchen sink and go touring and it just gets on with it. It's a bit like riding a sports yacht on the road, lots of presence but can stay with most bikes if you're good enough. Put the right tyres on it and you don't have chicken strips! Even ridden hard I still seem to average 50ish mpg. The boxer twin does take a bit of getting used to though but give it a chance and it shines. Might even say it's the best bike I've ever had!

Plenty of power and comfort for long trips - a bit on the heavy side when travelling in city congestion. Recent problems with the fuel level sensor in the petrol tank caused some grief - the new sensor had to be replaced after only 3 months. Hope to replace my bike with the latest model in the next 12 months.

Its a bit of a handful in the garage and when you are "paddling" it around. I am 5ft 9, for someone 6ft it would not be a problem. However as soon as it is moving it is very balanced and feet up manoeuvring, even at less than walking pace, is excellent. When in full flow the handling is excellent. The great thing is if you want to potter it's happy to do so but if you want/need to get a move on it is deceptively quick. The other great advantage is the storage capacity. I use it for business a lot, I can turn up in my bike gear, take it off in the car park and walk in in a suit if I need to with all my gear stowed away in the boxes. I have had the following bikes - Suzuki GT185, Suzuki GT380, tuned with expansion chambers!, Honda CB550, Kawasaki Z500, Kawasaki GPX750, Kawasaki ZX10, then the Beemer, so I have had my sports bikes etc and I would say this is the best all round bike I have ever had.
