“after a lot of time emailing and even saying l was going to go to the police this was most of my emails did not get a reply but in the end the bike came and the screen for the bike did not arrive at first but in all am very pleased and is a good runner l just dread if there comes a day if some thing goes on the bike because it impossible to get in touch with any one from Direct Bikes but thank you for a good bike”
“Had bike two weeks, got knocked over (was on floor for all of 10seconds) now my engine has ceased :-( worst bike ever, should have bought a secondhand bike”
“Cons :Rusts easily, nut fell off the seat and the indicator light after 1 week. Very lightweight. When i filled the tank for the first time it all ran out because a pipe had not been attached properly. Windshield is too flimsy and bends back when riding its also awkward to put on and pushes the front wires on the handle bars out of place. Battery was a nightmare to fit.
Pros :very good on petrol, looks good”
“I bought this scooter second hand at a year old with 800km. My first reactions were mixed because it was in "As New" condition, but failed to start when I went to view it. The owner eventually got it going (I think it was just flooded first time) and I went back and did the deal.
The first impression was that the bars were very wide and curved back at the end in a moustache shape, unlike anything I had previously ridden, but they do give the bike a very laid back ride and discourage any tendency to corner hard.
Since collecting the bike starts and runs perfectly, does around 75 mpg ish and has shown no vices. It came with an awful windscreen, which I removed and found some pitting of the chrome where it had been attached, and a top box which hadn't been fitted. Fitting it showed up the only fault I've found with the scooter so far; the carrier at the rear is distorted and not level. I think this was a manufacturing fault as it shows no sign of damage or incorrect fitting.
Overall, I love this scooter. It reminds me of the de-restricted mopeds of my youth with a max speed of around 55 mph and its very user friendly for short trips around town. I thought I might not like the twist and go gears, having had gears on all my previous bikes from moped to Bonneville but the whole package makes me smile and doesn't dent the bank balance much. I did remove all the Direct Bikes branding, cos its a bit like the Primark of bikes. I thoroughly recommend this scooter for all the fun that it gives.”
“Worst purchase of my life. Suddenly had issues with it and the lovely people at direct bikes were nothing but UN-helpful!
Bought a more expensive bike from a dealer and have had NO major issues since. had a few little bits which they sorted out NO PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS ASKED, NO CITING OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS CLAUSES just help and consideration. But i suppose that's what you get from face to face purchasing.
In their defense the bike did work fine until it broke and I had breached their terms by not servicing it in 3 months. This was because by the time it was registered it was the second month and the nearest "approved service centre" was many miles of national speed limit country roads away which I did not want to do at 20 MPH (in the terms you cannot go over 20MPH for the first 100 miles)! I'd have a death wish if i'd done it! And funnily enough the service i did have on the bike was only a few weeks before the breakdown (which left me stranded on a 60 MPH road with no lay-by in site!)
I would never personally recommend using direct bikes as what 'i saved in money I lost in what i felt to be atrocious customer service .Be warned from my experience i found out they will NEVER take the bike back once it's registered as apparently registering a bike counts as PERSONALISATION. Funny really i thought that was THE LAW that to ride a bike it has to be registered! How can you test an unregistered bike without getting arrested unless you live on a private road?
That's another thing. They wouldn't help me AT ALL with registering my bike like with every other inquiry they just cite their water tight terms and conditions.
I may be an exception to the rule. I cannot speak for the firm's conduct on any case but my own and do not pretend to know their conduct with me was anything but an anomaly . i hope i am the exception to the rule but this was MY experience. Buy from them if you wish it is entirely your choice and I cannot tell you who to do business with, i can only tell you how i felt about the business from my personal perspective, and let me know if you have a better experience but they made my life hell and lost me many hundreds of pounds and didn't even seem sorry. In my opinion from my experience they felt like just another faceless internet firm with no consideration for me as a customer.”
