“When the conditions are right there is no better mid range sports bike in my opinion.
With no rider aids the feeling is completely raw and the onus is all on the riders ability. The bike has plenty of useable power with 1st class brakes and suspension that gives extra confidence in the rider to push harder.
In the wet it can be a bit more of a handful, the rear will spin up easily due to the torquey L twin engine.
The range is relatively short so fuel visits are more regular and the position is very race focussed so it becomes uncomfortable when covering longer distances.
Reliability is 1st class I have owned mine for 4 years without a hint of trouble. Servicing is slightly more expensive due to having to change the cambelts every 2 years.
Overall performance and style with a beautiful engine note, this is one awesome package at a sensible price. Would highly recommend ownership!”
“It's the best bike ever , very reliable , excellent handling and very good breaks . I trust my bike 100 percent and it has never disappointed me .. I ride on evo for 3 years now and have no desire to swap for any other bike.”
“The bike has definite racing heritage and is performance related. Racing pedigree certainly is the focus and is actually not that uncomfortable. It is a capable bike, but it wants to be rode like it's on a track. Certainly not a commuter, but it was never designed with that in mind.
The baby of the Ducati superbikes, but has lots to offer. Great engine, handling and the Brembo brakes have a great feel.
The possible immediate upgrades are, replacement cans, neoprene seat, foot pegs and after that, skies the limit.
All in all, a great comprise for the newer 899 which is several grand more.
