“Definitely not a bike for the inexperienced , although sold as a sports tourer the emphasises is definitely on the sports side of things . The engine is a delight with plenty of torque but will rev to the limiter at 10,000 RPM very quickly, its sometimes to easy to find yourself going very fast.
Brakes and handling are great although the clutch being dry plates is heavy in traffic .
Being Italian it has a few strange habits like suddenly cutting out when hot in traffic , it has been suggested the fuel in the feed lines above the engine vaporises and therefore cuts the engine. As long as you get the clutch in quick and hit the starter its not to much of an issue.
Personally I cant see myself ever selling it as its light to manoeuvre, looks good, is as fast I as I wish a bike to be and has never let me down . Its the first bike I have owned where I dont service it myself, I am lucky in having a chap called Carl Harrison based in Harleston Norfolk who is a true Ducati expert , I only allow him to touch it, never ever the local main Ducati dealer.”
“Not an easy bike to ride if your feeling lazy or tired, definitely not for the inexperienced rider , the harder you push it the quicker it wants to go. Easy to manoeuvre as it only weighs just over 200kgs and held its own against similar bigger bikes on a trackday.
Finish very good although it has no winter use, reliability has been first class, however this is the first bike i have owned and not serviced myself. The only person entrusted to this is Carl Harrison of Harleston in Norfolk, ( what he doesn't know about Ducatis is not worth knowing) I wouldn't allow the local main dealer anywhere near it .
Unlike most Japanese bikes the Ducati has a real character and demands your full attention when riding to get the best out of it but the reward is great.”
