Not sure why this is called giant - it’s definitely not. Too small to make it down our average sized stairs!

Hello, sorry to read that you have not had a great experience with your Giant Springy. It's called "Giant" as it has a larger diameter than the standard size plus is much longer (13cm when piled up). When setting your springy up make sure it's not too close to the edge of the step. Grab the back and flip it over to the middle of the next step down. There's certainly a knack. Hope you find this helpful. Kate @ The Gift and Gadget Store
This is a high quality slinky and is extremely useful for showing youngsters the difference between compression and transverse waves. It is however, very long and not great if the child wants to play with it when it rapidly can become a mass of twisted and tangled metal which is nigh on impossible to get back into the original shape. So tips for using it : put it on the floor and then get two kids - one at each end. Do everything with the floor supporting the slinky. Get them to make transverse waves and they will rapidly find they can send several waves along it and get it to form standing waves. They can make small vertical waves with it, or horizontal waves on the floor. Show them how to make a compression wave and the difference in how they have moved to do that. They like this form of wave, and they can play "send and catch" with it.
