“Recently purchased my new Omnidesk I have been planning for over 12 months now.
Managed to snatch up a great deal over the BF sales.
It is a very sturdy desk made from clearly high quality materials.
Sure I could buy any old electric standing desk for a quarter of the price but you get what you pay for.
Even at max height there is very little sway or wiggle.
Instructions could be improved upon but even Omnidesk recommends checking out the AFTERSHOCK PC installation video, among the hundreds of others out there. The bolts used to fasten the cable management tray (the one that's part of the unit NOT the optional accessory one) are not great. I found that in tightening them enough to actually stop the tray from moving when touched, they also warped the metal and basically made it pop out a little. Partly my fault for over tightening but in reality it was the only way to stop it from moving properly.
I might be a slow assembler and like a bit of precision so for me, the build took several hours. I don't see anyone being able to assemble this in under an hour, especially if you have multiple accessories.
My only gripes I had were with the CPU Mount I purchased. The specs for its required height etc are shown but Omnidesk also provide their own specs. I didn't see these and therefore didn't take into account the added 4cm of the main support beam that runs under the desk meaning my PC doesn't fit.
I was a little dissapointed to find I couldn't send this back without having to cop $30 FREIGHT FEE even offering to drop it to their local store base in my state. (The Mount was $50 so I'd lose half what I paid)
I would have had to return the entire desk under the 100 day trial and then order it all again.
Not worth. I instead opted to keep the Mount, I'll fashion a bracket to attach the PC to later down the line or find another use for it on another desk since it is universal.
The other issue is small but most of the accessories appeared to be "rebranded" items off Aliexpress or other global markets. I found the same identical PC mount on Aliexpress for a quarter of the price. This was a little dissapointing but most companies do this stuff with accessories, it's a reality of business these days.
I really do love how expandable the desk is. There is pilot holes in convenient places on the underside of the desk for expansion and it was easy in concept to assemble.
Be warned the 72" is HEAVY. You will need two people to avoid injury or damage to the desk.
My biggest recommendation would be that the shipping method be altered. There was a lot of Styrofoam which is absolutely terrible for the environment. I would have liked to see this replaced with the hard cored honeycomb like cardboard that is in some of the boxes. I get why it's used, it did a great job protecting my desk on transit but man do I feel guilty everytime something I buy comes laden with it.
Don't be deterred by the detail of my issues I met. I only want to give accurate info.
I would recommend this desk to anyone.
The pre-set feature is awesome and it's range is impressive.
It's very quiet to operate (I doubt it would wake someone in the same room when adjusting)
I look forward to adding more to this desk and really utilising it. It looks great and feels great and I feel like I got my monies worth.
The real test will be how having to move this desk when my new home is built goes! I am hoping disassembly and transport of the desk is easy and doesn't cause any problems.
