“Great board to play with the family and dogs! The draft in the water is high due to the size, but for relax and enjoyable moment with your love's one, this board is perfect.”
Heya David, So glad to hear you're having a great time with your family (dogs included) on the Max! Fun for the whole family is what it's all about. It is our largest board so it'll ride a bit high unless you've got a 3 amount of weight on it. If you're finding that challenging, especially in windy conditions, a knee paddling or a kayak seat can be a big help. See you on the water, Matt Social @ Thurso Surf

“My first time on a SUP and I have an active dog. No issues with stability despite him jumping off to swim. Set up is easy and quick. One issue is pressure gauge. There are instruction on this but doesn't seem to work for me. Also I would like the bag to stand up on its own.”
Hiya Jill, Thanks for the heads up! Stoked you're having fun on your Max with your dog! It can be challenging to paddle with a pup so it sounds like you're off to a great start. The pressure gauge on the pump should start to register at about 7psi as your board is filling and take you all the way up to the recommended 15psi. It's meant to guide you into the recommended range so you don't over or under inflate your board. If it's not registering at all when you have plenty of air in the board and it's rigid enough to paddle, definitely let us know at contact[at]thursosurf[dot]com and we'll make sure it gets fixed. Also, 3 note on the board bag. It's best to store lying on it's side rather than on an end so that wasn't a priority for us, but I could see how being freestanding might make it more convenient to load. We'll take that into consideration going forward. See you on the water, Matt Social @ Thurso Surf

“5 board, great for families. This, combined with my wife's Waterwalker 126, has our family of five exploring endlessly. We can pack a ton of stuff for the day on these things. Great family time out on the water without a boat payment, maintenance and gas expense. We couldn't be more thrilled with our decision to purchase from Thurso. Worth every penny and then some.”

“I am very impressed by the Thurso team and the quality of this board. It's really well thought out and easy and fun to paddle. I was on the fence between a hard board or inflatable and I am so glad that I chose the Max. I am a bigger guy and feel very solid on this board. I have no problem keeping up with most people and can maneuver it easily. So far I am really pleased! Awesome board!”

“Love this SUP. It fits me, my partner, and our dog while out on the river!! So sturdy and the paw-proofed top is great for our pup to hang on. Thanks Thurso!”

“From the beginning the customer service was great. Mind you that you communicate through email but they respond very quickly and answer questions and concerns promptly. The lead time for the SUP's are worth the wait, very nice and the quality is 5. We waited a little over a week after receiving the two SUP's we ordered and noticed on one of the very nice backpack bags their was some separated stitching along the topside of the bag about 3 inches. I took a picture and emailed them and they responded the same day and quickly apologized and informed me they would be sending a brand new bag as a replacement and that it would take a couple of weeks because of shipping and stock but would notify me when they get it and send it out with a tracking number. Great boards and great customer service!”

“Very stable, thus allowing a beginner like myself to immediately enjoy its use. The pump, however, could be a bit taller to afford better leverage by the user (the majority of calories are burned during the inflation process) and it is difficult, if not impossible to keep the paddle in its adjusted position due to slippage allowed by 1 lever-clamp design – a pitfall of Chinese manufacture, I suppose. Quality, usability, and utility are high overall. Fixing the paddle is paramount to a higher rating as is the country of origin.”
Heya Cory, Stoked to hear you're digging your Max overall! Sorry about the issue with the clamp, but it's adjustable and can be easily fixed with a tweak of the screw. That'll adjust the tension on the lever so it'll be just as tight as you like. If you need help just shoot a quick note to contact[at]thursosurf[dot]com and we'll share a short video with you on exactly how to do it.
