The ceramic mechanisms can grind salt or pepper; use the carbon-steel mechanisms for pepper only. What is included: 5 x Antique Salt & Pepper Mill 5 x Antique Pepper Mill Details: Cast-metal mechanism with an adjustable finial for changing the grind from coarse to fine. Each mechanism measures approximately 2 inches in diameter x 4-3/8 inches tall. Timber bodies are not included. These are turning kits requiring drilled, turned and finished timber bases. Tooling and preparation: Choose the turned bodys shape, height and blank size to suit your own design and the supplied mechanism. A 3 x 3 inch timber blank is one possible starting point, not a fixed body specification. Prepare a 1 inch diameter through-hole for the contents. Use a lathe and a jamb chuck to support the blank between centres, with suitable drilling and turning tools, abrasives and finish. No pen-style bushing set is specified for these mills. Making your mills: Drill the through-hole, mount and turn the timber body, then sand, finish and attach the grinding mechanism. Use the ceramic mechanism for salt or pepper and the metal mechanism for pepper only. Check the supplied mechanism before machining the mounting details.
